URL | Audience | Objective | How Not Met? |
---|---|---|---|
starwars.com (Holly Bolton) | Moviegoers, fans, book readers, role players, and gamers. | Entertain, inform, and advertise (sell subscriptions). | The layout of the page is confusing with too many pictures, which adds to the load time. The navigation bar is unclear which hinders all of the objectives. The site is based on selling “hyperspace” subscriptions, which allow the member to access more “privileged” information at a cost. They lure the user by showing them half of stories or alluding to information only available to members. The secondary emphasis is on selling merchandise, which is obvious by all the “buy it here”, button. The “go” buttons on the corners of each box are too small and not easily recognizable as the click-able item in the box. In addition, the layout is not functional in lower screen resolutions. Finally, the message board link is confusing because it posts whatever the most recent post has been, which is random. |
www.letssingit.com (Meggie Conley) | This site seems to be directed at the general public. | Lyrics | It doesn’t look very professional. There is a lot of clutter and unneeded advertisements. The objective of the site seems to be to provide a search engine for song lyrics, but there is so much clutter and other business on the page, it’s hard to find where a person would go to actually find the song lyrics they want. The extremely small print, and all of the yellow is painful to the eyes, and the advertisements are larger than the search box. There are also so many pop ups that the site is hardly worth visiting. |

windowsmedia.com/MediaGuide (Johanna Gorton) | Users of Windows Media Player |
Providing information of music and movies | This site only really provides viewing of trailers of movies and clips of songs. All links are small font and hard to read. It is hard to skima page and find what you're looking for. |
www.azlyrics.com/ (Tiava Grant) | Teenagers and people in their early twenties. | To provide their audience with lyrics to their favorite songs. | Unlike the PBS site, this site takes a while to load, it doesn't have great graphics and there are pop-ups when it is opened. Aside from that the site does reach its goal of providing lyrics for its audience. Yet at times the site does have spelling errors. |
www.altschools.org/schools/lesp (Yan Li) | High school students and parents | To give information about aLower East Side Prep School. | 1. It is not informative because people will not be able to know what kind of school it is. People cannot get enough information from the web. 2. There is a link (parent newsletter) cannot be used. 3. It has not been updated for a while. 4. There is one line on the bottom upside down. (http://www.altschools.org/schools/lesp/brochure_chinese1.htm) 5. The web is very empty. It looks very bored. |
www.bathandbody.com (Jenna Martines) | The audience is intended for adults. | The objective is to advertise fragrances | It attempts to meet the needs of viewers but it requires you to have a certain speed in order to view it. |
www.webspawner.com/users/butricktrungle/index.html (Natialie Massulik) | The audience for this site is unclear, although I think it might be targeted towards teenagers due to the fact that butricktrunglism seems to be spreading mainly throught the use of instant messenger and chatrooms. | The objective of this site is to give general information as to what Butricktrunglism is, and how to become a butricktrunglist. It's also supposed to be funny. I believe. | I think this site doesn't meet it's objective at all. It is just very stark and plain, with ugly advertisements popping up all over, the links are bad. It looks very unproffessional, as if someone just sorta made all this stuff up. Some of the links are dead. As a butricktrunglist myself, It's not the way I'd want butricktrunglism to be perceived. |
www.jameshc.com (Caitlin McNulty) | Anybody who wants to see the pictures, family, friends | entertainment/souveneir for family, friends | slow pictures, nothing else yet |
www.francisfrancis.com/ (Anna Radlowski) | People who want to live healthy lives |
Provide information & products that help people to live healthy lives, |
(1) Really pretty-looking, but impossible to navigate (2) Slow-loading (3) Took me a great while to figure out what the site was all about in the first place (4) A number of links lead to places saying "coming soon." (5) Can't see where a link will take you until you put the mouse pointer over it and wait a few seconds for it to load (6) The pages that you can access are extremely wordy |
